Duncan studied at Aberdeen and Cambridge, and moved to Stowmarket over 30 years ago. He has served as a Labour County and District Councillor, as well as serving on the Town Council for 19 years.
Duncan is married with one son attending Stowmarket High School, and he works locally. At different times he has served as a Director of the Museum of East Anglian Life company and as a primary school governor, and is currently a governor on the High School and a Manager at the Kingsfield Pupil Referral Unit.
Duncan has been proud to serve the town in local government over a total of 21 years, and in this time has campaigned for many of the improvements which have taken place in the town, and as a County Councillor he started the Suffolk Safely to School initiative. Outside of politics he also supports Amnesty International, UNICEF, E.A.C.H. and the World Development Movement.
