Stowmarket Town Council plays an important role in keeping Stowmarket tidy. Town Council Maintenance Staff carry out regular litter picks of certain parts of the town and their own land - including the Recreation Ground. However, the majority of litter picking duties in the town are carried out by Mid Suffolk District Council.
The Town Council also has an Environmental Town Warden - Chrissie Day - who's role is to work with partners to tackle instances of untidiness in Stowmarket. This includes litter, graffitti, dog muck, fly tipping, overgrown foliage - anything untidy! If there is anything that Chrissie can help with, please email her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call her on 01449 612060.
However, before contacting Chrissie, please bear in mind that it may be Mid Suffolk District Council that you need to contact in the first instance. They have a duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to maintain levels of street cleanliness which includes dealing with:
- dog bins
- dog fouling

- graffiti
- litter bin emptying
- litter on highways and highways land
- recycling site litter
