Stowmarket Town Council manages 13 CCTV cameras in the town. The camera images are monitored and recorded in the CCTV control room at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Bury St Edmunds.
In May 2010 brand new cameas were installed, replacing the original cameras which had been in place since 2002. This has significantly increased camera quality and functionality therefore improving security in the Town Centre. Towards the end of 2010, the 13th camera was installed at the Recreation Ground to improve security in the area in view of the improved play facilities at the site.
