One of Stowmarket's greatest assets and attractions
is the Museum of East Anglian Life. The Museum
occupies a 70 acre site and along with its many
other out houses and buildings has a large tithe
barn dating back to the 13th century.
Set in 70 acres of lush East Anglian countryside,
the Museum offers wonderful walks by the river,
stopping on the way to view the fully- functioning
mill, the windmill and the re-erected chapel.
There are shady places with picnic tables and
a wonderful wooden adventure playground for the
children. There are also working steam engine
exhibits in the Pole Barn and the Boby Crafts
Building. Next door is the resident charcoal burner
who is always happy to explain his rural craft
to visitors in his fully-operative forge.
