Town Centre Partnership appoints new Town Centre Manager!

The Town Centre Partnership is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon Brown as the new Town Centre Manager.

Sharon, who is proprietor of Wardrobe ladies and mens clothing shops in Stowmarket and Woodbridge, has served as Director of the Partnership since June and welcomes this move to a more hands-on role.

The Partnership was set up in 2011 to Advance, Promote and Improve Stowmarket by creating a more prosperous and attractive town centre.

Aims of the Partnership include encouraging residents to shop locally, encouraging visitors to return to the Town, enhancing the potential for tourism, attracting inward investment, encouraging development sensitive to local priorities and supporting self-help initiatives; all of which will ultimately lead to increased footfall in the town.

In order to achieve these aims the Partnership is collaborating with other community-minded individuals and organisations in Stowmarket.

"The Partnership is a fusion of the energies and resources of public and private sector interests in the town”. says Chairman Peter Down.

We will measure our success by an increase in people visiting, and returning to, the town centre. The Partnership has made a good start with its participation in the Christmas Lights festivities. Planning is at an advanced stage for a Summer Carnival to tie in with the Queens’ Diamond Jubilee in June. A number of other initiatives have been under consideration for some time and, with the appointment of a new Town Centre Manager, can now be progressed”.

Sharon added “Stowmarket is a great place to live, work and shop. Our Challenge is to encourage more people to visit and see what the town has to offer. This will help businesses grow, encourage investment in the town, providing increased opportunities for employment, especially for younger people, and so make the town somewhere to be proud of, with an exceptional quality of life in which to bring up our families”

Sharon was born in Leiston and has lived in Stowmarket for over 25 years. She is married to Andrew and has one son who is a PCSO with Suffolk Constabulary. Her career includes experience at senior management level in a number of national retail businesses including Wyevale Garden Centres, Thresher Group and Allied Domeq. She studied at the University of Bradford and Suffolk College.
