The Regal Cinema – which recently celebrated its most successful year in generations – has just been installed with a brand new digital projector which includes the functionality to show films in 3D.
It was only a few years ago that The Regal was struggling to attract 9000 people a year, so the transformation in the venue’s fortunes is phenomenal. The popularity of The Regal started to increase following a major refurbishment in 2007 but progress was thwarted by an arson attack in September 2009 which forced the venue to close for repair for around six months. Since then, people have flocked back to the Regal with over 50,000 visiting the venue during 2011.
The addition of a digital projector with 3D functionality will further improve what the Regal has to offer and is the latest boost in what is a major success story for Stowmarket.
Regal Manager David Marsh said, “As well as improving picture quality, the projector is much easier to use and the fact that we can now show 3D films is a real plus. Whenever a film is out in 3D we get people ask us if we are showing it in 3D so there’s a demand for it.”
